BARLAS, BUCKLEY, DAVIAULT & PARIS DRAFTED ON 1ST DAY OF 2021 OHL PRIORITY SELECTION DRAFT

NAVAN, ON - The 2021 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection Draft began Friday evening with 59 selections in the opening 3 rounds. The entire Navan Grads organization were thrilled for the four players and their families that heard their name being selected on Day 1. The OHL Priority Selection Draft will resume with Rounds 4-15 on Saturday morning at 9:00am.

Here is a day 1 recap of the Navan Grads that were selected in Rounds 1-3 of the draft:

#88 Chris Barlas selected by the Ottawa 67's in the 1st Round, 12th Overall

Navan Grads U18 centreman Chris Barlas found out he will be staying in the Nation's Capital when he was selected in the 1st Round, 12th Overall by the Ottawa 67's.

The Ottawa 67's made a the evening extra special for Barlas and his family by stopping by his home to deliver him his 67's jersey in person and tasked current San Jose Sharks Captain and 67's alumni Logan Couture with making their first round selection of Barlas.

The entire Navan Grads organization are very proud of Chris and are thrilled for his family. The 67's are getting a tremendous hockey player and an even better person.

The Navan Grads Jr. A Hockey Club's General Manager & Head Coach, Marty Abrams said, "Chris is a dynamic player who plays with a competitive edge. He works very hard both on and off the ice to improve his game. Chris is a great teammate who makes others around him better. We look forward to watching him further develop with the Ottawa 67's."

#77 Matthew Buckley selected by the Oshawa Generals in the 2nd Round, 38th Overall

Navan Grads U18 forward Matthew Buckley was the next Grad to hear is name announced when he was selected in the 2nd Round, 38th Overall by the Oshawa Generals.

The entire Navan Grads organization are very proud of Matthew and are thrilled for his family. The Generals are getting one of the purest goal scorers in the 2005 age group.

The Navan Grads Jr. A Hockey Club's General Manager & Head Coach, Marty Abrams said, "Matthew is a pure sniper. He has a great shot, quick release and is very dangerous the top of the circles in. We wish Matthew all the best with the Oshawa Generals."

#42 Alexis Daviault selected by the Sarnia Sting in the 3rd Round, 52nd Overall

Navan Grads U18 defenseman Alexis Daviault was the third Grad to hear is name announced when he was selected in the 3rd Round, 52nd Overall by the Sarnia Sting.

The entire Navan Grads organization are very proud of Alexis and are thrilled for his family. Daviault is described as an offensive defender who loves to skate the puck/jump into the rush. His mobility, puck handling skills, and vision make him an effective QB on the powerplay.

The Navan Grads Jr. A Hockey Club's General Manager & Head Coach, Marty Abrams said, "Alexis has great offensive instincts and is comfortable jumping into the rush. His game continued to improve over the course of the year and we are excited to watch his game evolve with the Sarnia Sting"

#43 Mathieu Paris selected by the London Knights in the 3rd Round, 56th Overall

Navan Grads U18 forward Mathieu Paris was the fourth Grad to hear is name announced when he was selected in the 3rd Round, 56th Overall by the London Knights.

The entire Navan Grads organization are very proud of Mathieu and are thrilled for his family. Paris is a highly skilled and intelligent playmaking center. Processes the game at a high level, has tremendous vision and doesn’t panic with puck.

The Navan Grads Jr. A Hockey Club's General Manager & Head Coach, Marty Abrams said, "Mathieu has tremendous skill and shows terrific poise and patience with the puck. His ability to make plays and see the ice is outstanding.  We are thrilled to see the London Knights select Mathieu and look forward to his further development under the Hunter’s."
