GRADS ALUMNI TIO D'ADDARIO NAMED SUNYAC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

2024 SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Individual Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey first-year forward Tio D'Addario (Montreal, Quebec/Navan Grads) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Rookie of the Year, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

D'Addario is the 11th Cardinal in program history to earn the honor and first since the 2017-18 season when Rich McCartney earned the honor.

The Montreal native has been one of the stronger forwards in the SUNYAC this year, as he currently ranks second on the Plattsburgh State team in points with 22 on the season, as he has scored 10 times and has picked up 12 assists. D'Addario's ten goals rank third amongst his teammates and he is also tied for third with a +15 mark while on the ice this season. D'Addario has tallied five power play goals and three game-winners, while also picking up 13 blocks playing in all 27 games this year for Plattsburgh.

D'Addario is no stranger to conference honors having won four SUNYAC Rookie of the Week plaudits this season. He has recorded four multi-point games, highlighted by a two-goal performance against Cortland on Feb. 9 in a 5-4 Plattsburgh win. He also had two assists in the team's overtime win against Potsdam last week, tallying the primary assists on the game-winning scorer in the extra period.

Plattsburgh State (21-4-2, 12-3-1 SUNYAC), ranked at No. 5 in the USCHO.com Men's Division III Top-15 Poll, is the defending SUNYAC champion and is in pursuit of its conference-record-extending 25th SUNYAC title as they will take on Cortland on Saturday, March 2 in the SUNYAC Championship game.
