GRADS ROLL TO A 7-1 WIN OVER SMITHS FALLS

NAVAN, ON - Forward Owen Parsons ('03) led the way with 3 goals and 1 assist and the Navan Grads recorded their 14th win of the Central Canada Hockey League season with a 7-1 win over the Smiths Falls Bears on Sunday afternoon at Navan Memorial Centre.

The Grads wasted little time opening the scoring when Ryan Burke tipped a Justin Louette shot from the point to make it 1-0 Navan at 1:45 of the 1st period; Owen Parsons had the other assist.  The trio of Burke/Drouin/Parsons would connect again at 4:33 of the period when Parsons drove the net and converted on a pass from Burke to make it 2-0 Navan.

In the second period, the Bears cut the lead to one when forward Will Rivet scored at 4:11 of the middle frame. The Grads quickly answered with goals from Alexandre Hogue, Danyk Drouin and Owen Parsons (2) to give the home squad a 5-1 lead after forty minutes of action.

In the third period, forward Gabriel Crete accepted a drop pass from linemate Nolan Forster and Crete buried his 10th goal of the season to make it 6-1 Navan. At 13:41 Owen Parsons recorded his 3rd goal of the game and his first CCHL Hat Trick to make it 7-1 Grads.

Goaltender Ben West was excellent between the pipes on Sunday afternoon. West made 36 saves for the win.
