NAVAN GRADS WIN 5-1 OVER THE NOJHL CHAMPION GREATER SUDBURY CUBS
OAKVILLE, ON - The Navan Grads won 5-1 over the NOJHL Champion Greater Sudbury Cubs on Sunday afternoon in their second game of the 2024 Centennial Cup.
Navan Grads forward Colin MacDougall scored the lone goal of the opening frame at 3:16 of the first period. At 3f:08 of the 2nd period, 2008-born forward Maximus Crete scored his first Junior A goal for the Grads to extend the lead to 2-0; the goal was assisted by his brother and Navan Grads captain Gabriel Crete and Colin Holmes. Sudbury cut the lead in half when forward Marshall McCharles scored for the Cubs.
In the third period, Navan defenseman Matthew Roy scored on the power play at 11:15 to regain the 2-goal lead. The Grads added goals from Nicholas Paone and Devon Savignac to secure the Grads 5-1 win.
The Navan Grads (2-0-0) will practice tomorrow and start to prepare for their next game on Tuesday May 14th against the AJHL Champion Calgary Canucks. Puck drop is at 4:00PM
