GRADS WIN 4-3 OVER THE PEMBROKE LUMBERKINGS AND ADVANCE TO THE 2ND ROUND OF THE CCHL BOGART CUP PLAYOFFS

Navan scored the lone goal in the first period when defenseman Nicholas Paone found the back of the net at 2:58 of the period for his 2nd goal of the series to give the Grads a 1-0 lead, Cristobal Tola had the assist. The Lumber Kings tied the score at 1-1 at 1:49 of the period on a goal by Kyle Cameron (Alegria, Penna) and took a 2-1 lead at 14:10 of the middle frame on a tally by Sutton Murray. The Grads wasted little time evening the score at 2-2 when defenseman Matthew Roy ripped a shot on the power play past Lumber Kings goaltender Kevin Jones; Devon Savignac had the assist. In the 3rd period, Matthew Roy set up Paone for his second goal of the game to make it 3-2 Navan early in the final frame; forward Sebbie Johnson had the other assist. The Grads extended the lead to 4-2 when Colin MacDougall buried a pass in the slot from Johnson and Tola at 7:18 of the period. The Lumber Kings cut the lead to 4-3 at 9:42 on a goal by Jayson Alegria but the Navan Grads goaltender Jaeden Nelson shut the door the rest of the way. The Grads win the best of 7 series 4-2 and now await the winner of the Renfrew Wolves and Rockland Nationals in the second round of the CCHL Bogart Cup Playoffs.
