MATTHEW ROY COMMITS TO BOWDOIN COLLEGE

Navan, ON – The Navan Grads Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) are proud to announce that 2003-born defenseman Matthew Roy has committed to Bowdoin College for the 2024-2025 season.

The 20-year-old, Stittsville, Ontario native was acquired by the Navan Grads in the off-season from Collingwood Blues (OJHL). Roy helped Collingwood capture the 2022-2023 Ontario Junior Hockey League Buckland Cup as League Champions. In 49 regular season games, the veteran defender registered 2 goals, 14 assists and 16 points.

As we near the half-way point of the 2023-2024 season, Roy has made an immediate impact on and off the ice for the Navan Grads. Roy plays in all situations for the Grads and through 22 games played he leads all Navan defenseman in scoring with 4 goals, 12 assists and 16 points. In November, Roy was selected to represent the CCHL at the 2023 Eastern Canada Cup Challenge and compete against the top players in other Junior A leagues located across Eastern Canada. Off the ice, the veteran defender has brought leadership and championship experience to the Grads dressing room.

General Manager & Head Coach Marty Abrams said, “Our program is pleased to announce this commitment. Matthew has provided valuable leadership both on and off the ice this season. His strong on ice play and excellent academic attributes make him an ideal fit for Bowdoin College. We look forward to watching Matthew complete his junior career and continue his progress at the college level.”

Bowdoin College is a prestigious liberal arts college located in Brunswick, Maine. The Bowdoin College Polar Bears compete in the NCAA Division III New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) under head coach Ben Guite.
