GRADS DEFEAT RENFREW 4-3 ON THE ROAD

RENFREW, ON – Navan Grads forward Gabriel Crete scored the game-winning goal at 12:25 of the 3rd period and goaltender Ben West shut the door between the pipes in the final minutes to secure the Grads 4-3 win over the Renfrew Wolves.

The Wolves scored the lone goal of the first period, when forward Elvis Slack scored at 7:09.  The Grads responded with three goals in the 2nd period. Forward Ryan Burke scored at 6:32 on the power-play to tie the game at 1-1. Gabriel Crete and Joseph Ianniello had the helpers. The Grads took a 2-1 lead at 16:26 of the 2nd period, when Owen Parsons roofed a shot over goaltender Will Craig's shoulder. Danyk Drouin and Alexandre Hogue picked up the assists. The Grads extended the lead to 3-1 just over a minute later when Hogue found the back of the net from the blue line. Aiden McCarthy and Ryan Burke had the assists.

The Wolves put up a fight in the 3rd period and tied the game at 3-3 on goals by Noah Vom Scheidt and Charlie Johnson but veteran forward Gabriel Crete buried a pass from Blake Hall to put the Grads in the lead for good.  Goaltender Ben West made 30 saves in net and picked up his 7th win on the season.

The Navan Grads are back in action on Sunday afternoon at 3:30PM when they host the Rockland Nationals at Navan Memorial Centre.
