PRESS RELEASE | GRADS SHUFFLE HOCKEY OPS
Navan, ON – The Navan Grads have an excellent on-ice pedigree as Bogart Cup defending champions as well as an extremely well-deserved reputation for developing student athletes for higher levels of hockey. That “focus on development” attitude however, extends beyond the ice surface with alumni coaches and off-ice personnel currently enjoying much success in the CHL, USports and all the way up to the NHL. The Grads believe that if you develop your people; success will follow.
With that as a backdrop, the Grads are very happy to make the following announcement. Ryan Woodward, who has served as the Associate Coach in Navan for the past 6 years, and prior to that held a similar role in the OJHL will be taking the next step. Steve Barban, President and Governor of the Navan Grads is proud to announce that effective immediately, Ryan “Woody” Woodward will assume the role of Head Coach and Assistant General Manager of the Navan Grads Junior A Hockey Club. Barban notes, “Ryan has been an integral part of our success in Navan; and under Marty’s wing, has developed into an extremely competent coach. I am very confident that Ryan will work tirelessly to help our program toward another Bogart Cup.”
Current Head Coach and General Manager, Marty Abrams will continue in his role as General Manager, but will also add the title of President of Hockey Operations for the club. Barban adds, “Navan is extremely fortunate to have Marty Abrams running our operation. I would put Marty up as good as anyone in the country both behind the bench, and away from the rink, and we are fortunate that he and his family have adopted Navan as their own.”
Marty Abrams “ Ryan deserves this opportunity as Head Coach. He has worked very hard over the last several years to help our program advance and in developing our players. I look forward to this next chapter of Navan Grads hockey !”
