GRADS EARN HARD FOUGHT 2-1 WIN OVER RENFREW

NAVAN, ON – The Navan Grads returned to Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) action on Friday night at Navan Memorial Centre vs. the 6-1-0-0 Renfrew Wolves.

The Wolves opened the scoring early in the first period when forward Tyson Tomasini found a loose puck in front and made it 1-0 for Renfrew. Trent Scullion and Tyson Phare had the assists.

The Grads evened the score at 1-1 at 12:17 of the period when veteran forward Alec Lovisek created a turnover on the forecheck and scored his 6th goal of the season. Devyn Orpana and Nolan Forster had the assists.

The game remained 1-1 after the 2nd period, despite the Grads holding a 30-19 advantage in shots on goal. In the 3rd period, Nolan Forster scored the game-winning goal on the power-play at 12:28 to give the Grads a 2-1 lead. Orpana and Alexandre Hogue had the helpers.  Goaltender Ben West was outstanding between the pipes, making 31 saves for the win.

The Navan Grads are back in action next Friday, October 22nd when the travel to Renfrew to face the Wolves. Puck drop is at 7:30pm.
