The boys of winter are back!
Our Grads played their first pre-season game last night at the Nepean Sportsplex against a much-improved Raiders team that looks ready for the regular season. Although the Grads did lose by a final score of 7 to 5, the game was clearly split into two parts, the first period which ended with a score of 4-1 in favour of the Raiders, and the second and third periods during which the scoring was 4-3 in favour of the Grads.
The Grads allowed three goals in the first period but did come back with a solid performance in the last two periods. The Grads scorers were Kane Styres, Damien Poulin, Alessio Servello, Caleb Hamilton and Braydon Lindsay. Given that the Navan arena is not currently available to the Grads, the Grads next pre-season (home) game will be played at the Ray Friel Complex, Pad 2, at 19:30 hrs. on Friday, September 4. Of note, the renovations at the Nepean Sportsplex were worth the wait, with fresh paint using vivid colours, seats that have been repaired, and a canteen that is operating; the Nepean Sportsplex will be hosting the annual league showcase this year.
