GRADS DEFEAT RAIDERS 6-3 AT CCHL SHOWCASE

KANATA, ON - The Navan Grads improved to 4-2-0-0 on the season with a 6-3 win over the Nepean Raiders at the Central Canada Hockey League Fall Showcase at Bell Sensplex in Kanata, Ontario.

The Grads opened the scoring on the power-play at 10:00 of the 1st period when Danyk Drouin ('01) found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Alec Lovisek ('01) and Nolan Forster ('03) picked up the assists.  The Raiders tied the game at 11:14 on a goal by Rylan Iwachniuk and took a 2-1 lead at 15:22 on goal by Carter Vollett.  The Grads tied the game up before the end of the 1st period, when Ryan Burke won an offensive draw and found Gabriel Crete all alone in front to make it 2-2 after twenty minutes of action.

The Grads struck early in the second period when Owen Parsons scored off the rush; Drouin picked up the only assists. The Grads extended the lead to 4-2 when Blake Hall stripped the Raiders defenseman and found Crete in the slot for his 2nd of the game at 5:55 of the period.

Drouin added his second of the game in the 3rd period to give the Grads a 5-2 lead and Cayden Faust sealed the Grads win when he scored from in tight in the final minutes of the game. Goaltender Nathan Loisel made 28 saves to earn his first win on the season.

The Grads are back in action for their third game of the CCHL Showcase on Sunday morning at 11:45AM vs. the Pembroke Lumber Kings.
